We run two classes from September to June – a graduated General/Mixed Ability Class and an Advanced Class. The emphasis is on fun and teamwork, as well as improving our skills, learning new dances and enjoying familiar ones.

GENERAL (MIXED ABILITY) CLASS

Teachers: Steve Kelly and Kate Thomson

Guest Teacher: Deborah Draffin

Wednesdays 7.30 to 10.00 pm from 6 September 2023 to 24 April 2024

(Except 20 and 27 December 2023)

7.30 to 8.45 Beginners, improvers, intermediates (advanced dancers very welcome)

8.45 to 9.00 Refreshments break

9.00 to 10.00 Intermediate and advanced only

We ask complete beginners to email us before attending your first class to let us know you are coming and for more information.

The first half hour focuses on basic technique and instruction to improve the proficiency of steps, figures, etiquette and the understanding of dance terminology, with easier dances focused on beginners and improvers. The pace then quickens somewhat when beginners and improvers can learn and benefit from dancing with more experienced dancers. After the break, the pace and difficulty increase and the focus is more on social dancing at intermediate level. The last hour is not suitable for beginners.

Wednesdays 8.00 to 10.00 pm in May and June

The whole evening consists of social dancing for all abilities, led by guest teachers in May and by committee/club members in June. These evenings are not suitable for complete beginners.
